Healing and Growth Begin Today

We can work together to determine your path of treatment and develop strategies for the changes you are seeking. Whether you seek regular, ongoing meetings or intermittent services, Baker Counseling offers out-patient treatment for most mental health areas of concern.

Psychotherapy varies depending on the personalities of the provider and client, and the particular problems you are experiencing. There are many different methods I may use to deal with the problems that you hope to address. Our first session will involve an evaluation of your needs. By the end of the evaluation, I will be able to offer you some first impressions of what our work will include and we can decide if I am the ideal provider to assist you with your treatment goals. Once psychotherapy has begun, we will usually schedule one session (60 minutes in length) per week, although session length and frequency may vary per client. Duration of therapy varies widely depending on many factors, including attendance, motivation, and follow-through of assignments and suggestions.

Couples Therapy

Working on healthy, satisfying relationships is a true passion in my work. I work from a strengths perspective, and help couples understand individual contributions to the situation, needs attainment, balance of power, and to develop relational and communication skills. I show each partner how to be accountable for their own physical and emotional health, life balance, and needs, while supporting the other’s interests, needs, feelings, and well-being. This area is rich in opportunity for growth and rewards.

Women's Issues

Roles for women and men have changed immensely in the past 25 years. As I have observed these changes from a personal and professional perspective, I have come to understand the challenges and opportunities women face as they strive to define healthy roles and balance. Working from a strengths perspective, I work to identify personal beliefs that have contributed to past patterns, and new beliefs and actions that will provide the vision and momentum for present, mindful living and goals.

Anxiety / Depression

I have extensive experience working with depression, anxiety, and panic attacks. My approach is to understand the unique individual and their circumstances, and recommend a treatment plan that incorporates individual strengths, lifestyle changes and personalized coping skills. There are many forms of depression and anxiety, some respond to therapy alone, and others may benefit from medication and therapy combined.  I use an approach to treating panic attacks that has been very effective, often without medication.
